Tigers Stop Losing Skid

CLINTON, S.C.- Savannah State stopped a four game losing skid with a 7-5 win over Division I newcomer Presbyterian at the PC Baseball Complex.
SSU entered the third inning with the score tied 0-0 but the Tigers exploded for 5 runs.
Presbyterian scored runs in the third and fourth innings to cut their deficit to 5-2 but the Tigers went up 6-2 with a run in the top of the fifth.
The Blue Hose added another run in the bottom of the seventh to close their gap to 6-3.
Savannah State scored once in the top of the ninth to increase their advantage to 7-3. Presbyterian added two runs in the bottom of the inning but it was not enough.
The game was not without mistakes as SSU made four errors and the Blue Hose committed three. The teams combined to leave 19 runners on base with Presbyterian stranding 11.
Santos Adames hit a home run for the Tigers (17-13), scored twice and drove in two runs. David Washington, Kyle Wilkerson and Matt Oglesby all had two hits for SSU. Oglesby also had two RBI.
Cory Lyda scored twice for Presbyterian (8-22).
Michael Allegretti picked up the win for SSU, pitching a complete game, as he improved to 5-1. Allegretti struck out two batters and gave up two earned runs.
