Vision

Long the keystone institution in the African-American community of coastal Georgia, Savannah State University, serves a critical function by preserving, interpreting, and transmitting the African-American legacy to future generations. It accomplishes this in the context of a student-centered state-of-the-art curriculum emphasizing the liberal arts combined with technological mastery and social science competence suitable for the world culture of the 21st century. The university is building upon its historic role to provide a contemporary higher education opportunity for traditional and non-traditional students from the larger community, regardless of race, and is doing so while working to elevate the social, cultural, and economic conditions of its external community and stakeholders.
